As a full-time working artist in East Austin, Evan produces a brand of handmade functional ceramics and fine art sculpture. His clay is often sourced from regional creeks and rivers, where influences run deep amid the limestone and juniper. Native to West Texas, he has lived in the Basin and Range, the Great Plains and throughout the Hill Country. He is interested in natural forms and patterns, and his studio practice explores themes in spontaneity, balance and proportion. By using his arms and hands as units of measurement, Evan is able to organically express PHI (the golden ratio)—a design principle inherent and observable throughout the natural world.
